Sigal Kaplan, Family Counsellor in Divorce and Chapter II.

Concern for your children's ability to cope with the changes that come with divorce is natural. In this case, the best thing you can do is to trust your instincts, your relationship with your children and your ability to spot changes in their behaviour.
"Is my child behaving differently than usual?", "Is there a regression in his behaviour like thumb-sucking or bedwetting?”, "Are the changing emotions interfering with his daily routine or activities like school or friends?"
Pay attention to the following signs manifested in behavioural changes of mood: sadness, anxiety, problems at school, difficulties with friends, appetite and sleep.
Older children and teens may develop risky behaviours such as drug and alcohol use, dropping out of school, and defiant behaviour. Regardless of whether this behaviour is directly related to divorce, it is serious behaviour that affects mental and physical well-being and may indicate the need for external intervention.
